Longest air raid alert ends in Kharkiv, Ukraine
The longest air raid alert since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has ended in Kharkiv. It lasted more than two days
The air raid in Kharkiv was announced at 6:31 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23. It lasted for two days, two hours and 31 minutes.
The all-clear signal was declared only at 9:02 p.m. on Thursday, July 25.
And the next alarm started 11 minutes later.
Earlier, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov shared statistics showing that Kharkiv residents heard 169 air raid alerts over 460 hours in June. There were more than 40 threats of shelling of the city, and 22 actual attacks on Kharkiv.
If we look at individual communities in the region, as of July 26, air alerts have been in place in the Lyptsi and Vovchansk communities for more than 74 days, having been announced on May 12. In addition, there is a threat of artillery shelling and street fighting.
The situation in these areas remains difficult and unstable. Since Russia launched a new wave of offensives in the north of Kharkiv region on May 10, 2024, when the Russian military managed to advance from the territory of Belgorod region in two areas of Kharkiv region.
However, the Russian army failed to implement the “Kharkiv operation”. The Ukrainian military is holding back Russian troops, and the fighting continues.
