Lithuania calls on EU to form joint strategy against Russian hybrid attacks
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys called on European Union countries to develop a joint strategy to counter hybrid attacks from Russia
LRT reported the information.
According to the report, he made this statement during a conference initiated by the Czech Republic on deterring and responding to hybrid attacks from Russia.
"Russia uses hybrid attacks to distract us from its aggressive war against Ukraine, divert our resources elsewhere, intimidate, and divide our societies. We must seek a collective response, continue supporting Ukraine, and create strategic dilemmas for Russia by exploiting its vulnerabilities and dependencies," the Lithuanian Foreign Minister emphasized.
He suggested approaching the European External Action Service and the European Commission to adopt a unified strategy for responding to Moscow's hybrid actions.
The ministry noted that Lithuania, along with the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Sweden, and Romania, has prepared a detailed proposal on this issue, which will be discussed at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in January.
