Kremlin's ambitions narrowed to Pokrovsk direction

Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi believes that if Russian forces are stopped in the Pokrovsk direction, the Kremlin will be forced to reduce its ambitions

He said this on Espreso TV.

"Currently, the Russian forces are forced to narrow their ambitions. According to DeepState's infographic for May, as part of the campaign in the Kharkiv region, the Russians managed to seize more territory than in June-July during the battles in the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions," Kyrychevskyi emphasized.

According to the military expert, the Ukrainian president’s statement emphasizes the difficult situation for the Defense Forces in the Pokrovsk sector. This means that any additional weapons that can be found by Western partners are urgently needed in this area. Even if it is additional ammunition or grenade launchers. Because it is in the Pokrovsk direction that the Russian army’s main attack is now concentrated.

"Obviously, if we stop the enemy in this direction, the Kremlin will be forced to reduce its ambitions. Because its offensive ambitions have already been reduced to this direction. Although, the Russians planned to conduct a strategic offensive to a depth of several tens of kilometers. Despite the fact that there was not enough help, the Ukrainian Defense Forces were able to significantly deplete the enemy," Kyrychevskyi said.

  • On August 1, 127 combat engagements took place at the front. Russian troops continued to attack in the Pokrovsk sector the most.
  • Ruslan Mykula, co-founder and analyst of the DeepState project, noted that the most difficult situation remains in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukraine has lost a lot of territory.
