European Parliament adopts resolution calling for Taurus missiles for Ukraine
The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling on all of Ukraine's NATO and EU allies to provide the weapons necessary for victory, including Taurus missiles
The press service of the European Parliament reported the information.
MEPs believe that it is especially important to supply Ukraine with:
- modern air defense systems;
- long-range missiles, in particular Taurus, Storm Shadow/SCALP;
- various types of artillery and ammunition (in particular, 155 mm caliber);
- drones and weapons to combat them.
MEPs called for the necessary investments in the European defense industry and emphasized that this is of paramount importance to meet Ukraine's needs and replenish depleted EU stockpiles. The MEPs emphasized that all EU and NATO allies should provide Ukraine with military support in the amount of at least 0.25% of their GDP annually.
The resolution also emphasized the urgent need to create a strong legal regime that would allow for the confiscation of Russian state assets frozen by the EU and use them to rebuild Ukraine and pay compensation to war victims.
In addition, MEPs called on the EU to maintain and expand its sanctions policy against Russia and Belarus.
The text was adopted with 451 votes in favor, 46 against and 49 abstentions.
