Crimean Bridge will turn into trap: Mejlis member Bariiev explains how bridge destruction threatens Russians
Eskender Bariiev, a Mejlis member of the Crimean Tatar people, believes that Russians who settled in Crimea after the annexation will start fleeing the peninsula after the destruction of the Kerch Bridge
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel
"We need to understand that as long as Putin is president of the Russian Federation, Crimea will remain a sacred place for him. Not only a political project, a logistics hub for Russian troops, and a military base. He will hold on to the peninsula for a very long time. The Crimean Bridge is a means for him to control Crimea," Bariiev explained.
According to Bariiev, after the destruction of the Crimean Bridge, Russians will start panicking on the peninsula
"Back in 2022, we said that they would try to seize the territory of Ukraine to form a land corridor to Crimea. That is why when the Crimean bridge is destroyed, Crimea will turn into a trap for them. Then Russians will start to really flee the peninsula. Not as they say today, that they are sitting on their suitcases, but a real panic will begin. They are already realizing that they have not moved to Crimea forever," he added.
- On February 25, the Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov thanked the residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea for their help and advised civilians not to drive across the Crimean bridge, hinting at "new surprises" for the Russians in 2024.
