The Institute for the Study of War reports.
It is noted that according to Reuters, Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries have led to the shutdown of about 14% of all Russian oil refining capacity.
“The April 2 strikes are the first Ukrainian strikes on Tatarstan, and the distance of the targets from Ukraine’s borders represents a significant inflection in Ukraine’s demonstrated capability to conduct long-range strikes far into the Russian rear,” the statement said.
Analysts noted that such strikes “are a necessary component of Ukraine’s campaign to use asymmetric means to degrade industries that supply and support the Russian military.”
- On the morning of April 2, the authorities of the Russian republic of Tatarstan, located more than 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine, reported a drone attack on businesses in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk, allegedly resulting in casualties. It is reported that the GRU attacked a plant for the assembly of Russian Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs.
