On April 25, the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine identified two instances of misinformation and one manipulation.

Manipulation: German-Finnish blogger Kim Dotcom claimed on his X page that Joe Biden 'sends more Ukrainians to their deaths' so that his opponent cannot say that he lost the war and that 'hundreds of men and fathers die every day for his election campaign.'

Refutation: Such manipulative claims seek to distort reality, suggesting that Ukrainian military efforts are driven by politicians' ambitions rather than the defense of their nation's freedom. The aim is to discredit US leadership and its support for Ukraine.

Misinformation: American economist Jeffrey Sachs asserted that the US Congress 'sentenced about 500,000 Ukrainians to death or serious injury' and that Ukraine lost a large part of its territory not because Putin wanted to seize it, but because the United States consistently refused diplomacy regarding American troop placement along the Russian border.

Refutation: Sachs's assertion aims to shift blame for Ukrainian casualties resulting from Russian aggression onto Ukraine's partners, utilizing propaganda tactics.

Misinformation: American economist Michael Hudson claimed that Ukraine is not mobilizing Ukrainians as much as the former 'Hungarian-speaking and Romanian-speaking population' in Ukraine and is attempting ethnic suicide by sending them to the front. He called Ukrainians 'Nazi ethnic racists.'

Refutation: The Ukrainian government is mobilizing all citizens, irrespective of ethnicity. Such statements aim to demonize Ukraine's government and discredit the mobilization process to foreign audiences.

  • Previously, The American Conservative published the false claim that Moscow sought neutrality rather than the subjugation of Ukraine.
