Russia turns Crimean Titan plant into military unit – Atesh resistance movement
In the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, the Russian army has turned the Titan plant into a military unit
This is reported by the Atesh military partisan movement.
"The Russian Federation has actually turned the plant into a military unit: there are air defence systems on the territory, significant National Guard forces are deployed, and everything is completely mined. Employees are being laid off en masse, and production has virtually stopped," the statement said.
According to Atesh, the Russian forces are planning to turn the Crimean Titan chemical plant into a defensive position.
"They are ready to blackmail the whole world and Ukraine with a new environmental disaster. They do not care about the local population and the environment," the statement added.
What we know about the situation at the Crimean Titan plant
The information about a chemical plant being mined appeared on 31 May.
In early June, information about the mining of the Crimean Titan emerged. A possible explosion would release thousands of tonnes of toxic substances into the atmosphere and is dangerous for people and the environment.
On June 21, Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for the South military command, said that if the Russian occupiers blew up the Crimean Titan, it would primarily affect the Russian military, but could also affect neighbouring Moldova, Romania and Turkey.
