Russia tries to advance to road from Chasiv Yar - Ukrainian military

Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the UAV strike company of the 92nd separate assault brigade named after Ivan Sirko, tells how Ukraine's Defense Forces repel attacks by the Russian army, which uses manpower but cannot achieve tactical success at the front

He said this on the Espreso TV channel.

"As part of the offensive campaign that took place in the summer and fall, a number of favorable positions were taken, including dominant heights and necessary bridgeheads, and in some areas of the front we ended up in not very convenient and favorable positions, i.e. lowlands that are quite difficult to hold. After the forces switched to self-defense and active defense, the enemy has been pressing very, very actively for the last month and a half, using a huge amount of manpower, which is consumable for them. They don't fight as hard as the Wagner PMC fighters, but they are trying to gain tactical success on the front by using their numbers," the soldier says.

According to Fedorenko, Ukrainian Defense Forces are trapping the Russian troops and trying to destroy as many of them as possible.

"Russia had minor tactical successes in some places, but if we look at the entire front, we can say that the Defense Forces have stabilized the situation at the moment and, in my opinion, there will be no further tactical successes of the Russian forces. The road from Chasiv Yar to the town of Bakhmut has a very dangerous connotation, and in the fall of this year, very, very fierce fighting took place there. At that time, the Russian troops were on the frontiers where the Defense Forces managed to stabilize the situation and push them back several kilometers.

Now the same situation has happened again, that is, the enemy has come to the road again, trying to gain a foothold there, to create a bridgehead for advancing to Chasiv Yar, but I am convinced that Ukraine's army will also be able to stabilize it with titanic round-the-clock work and fighting," added the commander of the UAV attack company of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade.

  • On December 19, Rodion Kudriashov, deputy commander of the 3rd separate assault AFU brigade, said that Russians had intensified their offensive in the Bakhmut direction
