North Korea speeds up pace of secret arms shipments to Russia - Bloomberg
South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik said that the DPRK has sent about 6,700 containers of weapons to Russia, accelerating the pace of deliveries after Putin held a summit with Kim Jong Un in September
Bloomberg reports.
According to Shin, the containers could contain about 3 million 152 mm caliber shells.
He added that Russia is providing North Korea with food, raw materials and parts used in the production of weapons in return, saying that if the volume of arms supplies increases, Putin will send Kim more military technology.
Although North Korea and Russia deny any arms shipments, commercial satellite imagery has shown about four cargo ships traveling between the North Korean port of Najin near the Russian border and the Russian port of Danube.
The White House said it had tracked some of the cargo as it was being transported by rail through Russia to be stored in warehouses near the border with Ukraine.
