Russia may go beyond conventional weapons - Zgurets
Serhiy Zgurets, director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, noted that even when our fighters held Mariupol, the military-political leadership assessed the risks of using chemical weapons and already concluded that our units should be equipped with gas masks and other means that allow us to hold the defense even under those conditions
He told it "Espreso.TV" live on air.
"Russians can go beyond conventional (traditional, recognized by international regulation - ed.) weapons samples. On September 29, there was an important report of the State Security Council, which took itself seriously enough and described the scenario of using tactical nuclear munitions, emphasizing that they can be used on the contact line and in the area of greatest concentration of forces on both sides," the military expert noted.
Sergiy Zgurets added that we take intelligence conclusions seriously enough, because their assessment of the events at the beginning of the war turned out to be the most accurate.
"Now with regard to chemical munitions, the military-political leadership assessed the risks of using chemical weapons even while our fighters were holding Mariupol. At that time, there were also scenarios that the enemy could use chemical weapons to stop the resistance of our fighters in Mariupol. Accordingly, they had already made conclusions, so that Ukrainian units are equipped with gas masks and other means that allow you to maintain defense under such conditions. Such challenges are taken into account by the Ukrainian army, but now it is necessary to take seriously the training of the civilian population, understanding that the enemy can use such unconventional means and against people, who live on the contact line and near the occupied territories," Zgurets emphasized.
