Russia loses support of almost 40 UN member states due to aggression in Ukraine
The number of supporters of the Russian Federation in the UN has decreased by 3 times since Russia's war with Georgia, and the number of opponents of Moscow's aggressive actions has increased by 3 times
This is reported by the Mozhem Obyasnit Telegram channel.
The publication notes that the support of the Russian Federation is decreasing every year. Back in September 2009, when the UN General Assembly condemned Russia's invasion of Georgia, 18 countries supported Moscow — at that time, things were not so clear for India or Sri Lanka, which later stopped supporting Russia.
At the same time, diplomats of 78 states took a neutral position and abstained from voting, including friends from the CIS - Kazakhstan, BRICS partners - Brazil, China and South Africa, and many other partners, including Egypt and Serbia.
In March 2014, the annexation of Crimea was condemned by 100 states, and the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine by 105 UN members.
In October 2022, only 4 satellite countries remained, and 35 neutral ones. The DPRK, Belarus, Syria, and Nicaragua supported the Russian Federation during the vote at the UN General Assembly on the resolution condemning the annexation of Ukrainian territories. 143 states spoke in favor of the resolution, and another 35 abstained.
