Retired British colonel Glen Grant believes that the US and its allies will not launch nuclear strikes against targets in the Russian Federation in response to a nuclear strike on Ukraine.

"First of all, if Putin uses tactical nuclear weapons, he will completely reformat the war. He and everyone else should understand this. It will no longer be an ordinary war between Russia and Ukraine, it will be a war between Russia and the West. After all, Putin in this case  doesn't care about all international norms. He doesn't even care about Russian agreements on the use of nuclear weapons," Grant explained.

The British colonel believes that in response to a nuclear strike on Ukraine, the USA and its allies will not launch nuclear strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation.

"I believe that the response will not be nuclear, but with the use of tactical aviation and conventional weapons, because the United States has a huge potential. When it comes to conventional weapons, the use of which we have already seen in the Persian Gulf war. It is about a powerful ability to find and strike  targets. So now they gravitate towards just such a response scenario, rather than a nuclear one," he added.
