Putin should not achieve his goal by plunging Ukrainians into darkness and cold - Victoria Nuland at Kyiv Security Forum
US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland emphasized that the US will stand by Ukraine as long as necessary
She said this during the broadcast of the Kyiv Security Forum on Espreso TV.
"Ukrainians are not only fighting for their own survival, Ukrainians are fighting for all of us. Putin's attempts at violent conquest, his war crimes and nuclear blackmail, his efforts to weaponize hunger and freeze Ukraine must be repulsed and defeated. If this does not happen, the world will become much more dangerous. And then the light will go out not only in Ukraine, the light of a sovereign and democratic nation fighting for its own future," noted Nuland.
The US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs also added that Washington led the world by providing unprecedented amounts of military, economic and humanitarian support to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
"Just now, President Biden asked Congress for an additional package of $37 billion so that Ukraine not only survives these trials, but also flourishes as a sovereign, protected and democratic country, and Vladimir Putin suffers a strategic defeat. Secretary of State Blinken announced $53 million to purchase critical US electrical equipment in addition to the $50 million to purchase power generators we have already provided. Putin must not achieve his goal by plunging Ukrainians into darkness and cold after failing to achieve his goal on the battlefield. He was defeated thanks to the resilience, courage and strength of the Ukrainian people," Nuland emphasized.
