Putin is clearly insecure and miserable
I recently watched Putin's Witnesses – a documentary film directed by Vitaly Mansky.
It's surprising that I haven't seen it before (it was released over three years ago). Now it is relevant from the point of view of studying "the person’s role in history".
There’s interesting documentary footage filmed for the anniversary of Putin's election, as well as interesting dialogues (which were not included in the official chronicle) and interesting conclusions to make after watching.
“Foreign intelligence is wrong in saying that Putin was planning to finally restore the empire after two Covid years, when he was limited in communication with the outside world.”
The first conclusion. Foreign intelligence is wrong in saying that Putin was planning to finally restore the empire after two Covid years, when he was limited in communication with the outside world.
According to the film, the idea of "returning to the past" was already in Putin's mind in 1999. Returning of the anthem with Soviet music by Aleksandrov and the involvement of Sergey Mikhalkov in writing it was only a prologue to this goal.
The second conclusion. Putin is deeply insecure and clearly miserable, incapable of empathy. The footage of him visiting his teacher clearly demonstrates that a robot has come to power. All he has is exceptional pragmatism and anger at the whole world. Putin does not want to recall his childhood, all he wants is to prove that "the common goal is more important than individual wishes."
The third conclusion. Putin accepted power as something granted to him with absolutely no respect or gratitude toward Yeltsin. The hour and a half that Yeltsin (unsuccessfully) waited for a return call on the night of the election sends a very clear message.
“Putin seems to have a warmer relationship with Medvedev than with his own wife. Back in 1999, his wife Lyudmila was only an "attribute" – she could even envy Liudmyla Yanukovych for her position”
The fourth conclusion. Most of the people who brought Putin to power either joined the opposition, left Russia, or are already dead. Only Medvedev stood by Putin’s side since his first election. Putin seems to have a warmer relationship with Medvedev than with his own wife. Back in 1999, his wife Lyudmila was only an "attribute" – she could even envy Liudmyla Yanukovych for her position. I am not a psychologist, but the footage shows no hint of intimacy.
And finally, the fifth conclusion. When Putin said in 2000 that he did not want to be a monarch because "the life of a monarch is difficult'', he was already thinking about this. Why would he talk about it at all then?
