Polish Senate adopts resolution condemning illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia

All 90 senators from different political forces who were in the session hall voted for this resolution.

The document states that children are taken away after the murder of their parents or are taken away under the pretext of placing them in vacation camps. The Polish senators emphasize that children are taken to remote regions of the Russian Federation, from Dagestan to the Murmansk region, and Sakhalin, and everything is done to prevent their return to their families. Their phones are taken away from them, and they are constantly transported from place to place so that the Ukrainian authorities cannot find these children.

"The abducted children are placed in orphanages and children's camps, which the Russians mockingly call 'recreation centers.' In fact, in these places, Ukrainian children are subjected to Russification. The goal, as the Russian media themselves say, is clear: in a year they will forget that they are Ukrainians," the Polish senators emphasize.

They emphasized that the deportation of civilians is a violation of the Geneva Conventions, which "can be defined as a war crime or even genocide."

"Poland, which itself suffered the Germanization of its children during the German occupation, cannot remain indifferent to this call. Therefore, the Senate of the Republic of Poland condemns the inhuman practice of abduction of Ukrainian children by Russians during the war against Ukraine. The Senate also calls on international organizations and institutions with the relevant legal authority to bring to justice the perpetrators of these war crimes in Ukraine," the resolution of the upper house of the Polish parliament reads.
