Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki arrives in Kyiv and honors memory of Holodomor victims
On November 26, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki arrived in Ukraine and began his visit by commemorating victims of Holodomor
The Office of the Prime Minister of Poland reports on Twitter.
On Saturday morning, Morawiecki placed symbolic bouquet in front of the monument to victims of Holodomor in the capital on Mykhailivska Square.
"Great Famine broke out in Ukraine in 1932-33 and was the result of the criminal policy of the Soviet Union," Morawiecki's office wrote.
Head of the Polish government also visited an exhibition of destroyed Russian equipment on Sofia Square.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced that he had a meeting with Mateusz Morawiecki and Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonite, who is also in Kyiv.
"Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland are united by common values and visions regarding countering Russian aggression and approaching our victory. In the format of Lublin Triangle, we discussed current issues and challenges, and also signed a joint statement in which we agreed on a number of our positions", Shmyhal wrote.
He listed three points of joint statement:
Prime Ministers of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland confirmed their readiness to intensify discussion in NATO regarding invitation of Ukraine to accession negotiations in view of the upcoming summit in Vilnius. They emphasized the importance of further strengthening military, financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and also confirmed further participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine. They supported the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to EU immediately after adoption by the European Commission of positive assessment of implementation of recommendations regarding application for membership.
