Pentagon states that Russia did not cease hostilities during January 6
Despite the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the "Christmas truce", Russia did not stop fighting at the front in Ukraine on January 6
This was stated by Deputy Assistant Secretary Of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Laura Cooper during a briefing.
"Putin has not given up his aims of dominating Ukraine and continuing to acquire Ukraine's territory," the representative of the US Department of Defense said.
According to Cooper, the Russian military did not stop firing, although the day before the Russian president announced a unilateral cessation of hostilities.
"It's a statement from Putin that we have to take with a grain of salt. This is the same man who said he would not invade Ukraine," she said.
Laura Cooper added that the state of the Russian armed forces does not coincide with the goals of the Kremlin, because the Russian military has low morale, and this only worsens the situation for them.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the head of the Defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu to introduce a ceasefire in Ukraine from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7. Espreso TV informed how Ukraine reacted to this.
