Only winning option for Russia is to lose – Timothy Snyder

“What should be done regarding Russia?” It is a complex question, especially considering the current Ukrainian perspective. Understanding the Russian point of view is challenging as well. In reality, there is no discrepancy between what Ukrainians need and what Russians need – the defeat of Russia in the war. Snyder emphasizes that losing is the only viable option for Russia. And now, an unprecedented opportunity for Russia to lose its imperial war is unfolding.

According to Snyder, it is crucial for the West to initiate a process of reevaluating its perception of Russia.

He says that the future of Russia after the war remains uncertain for all of us. However, the most favorable outcome would be Russia's defeat in the war. According to him, making numerous predictions is futile. Whether Russia should disintegrate depends on the Russians themselves. The best course of action for the West is to commence the process of reevaluating its understanding of Russia. This process may appear slow and protracted, but it has already commenced. Defeating Russia is imperative – it is the only path that grants Russians a chance, Snyder emphasized.
