The American daily again speaks with Kremlin's voice: the US is allegedly warning Ukraine about a pivotal moment in the war and the division of territory
This has never happened before, and here it is again*: the American WP lovingly and in detail sows the lie about Washington's “Ukraine fatigue.” And all in order to explain that Kyiv must surrender Bakhmut and then negotiate with the Kremlin on the division of Ukraine. Watch the 'beauty of the game'.
The Biden administration is making it increasingly clear to the Ukrainian authorities that the war is reaching a decisive moment, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces must maximize their success on the battlefield while they receive high levels of Western aid.
“US officials are telling Ukrainian leaders they face a critical moment to change the trajectory of the war, raising the pressure on Kyiv to make significant gains on the battlefield while weapons and aid from the United States and its allies are surging.”
The latest military package offers the best chance of turning the tide in the spring. Going forward, the situation may not be as safe: some Republicans are determined to reduce support for Ukraine, and Europe may slow down its arms supply.
“We will continue to try to impress upon them that we can’t do anything and everything forever,” said one senior administration official, referring to Ukraine’s leaders.
Then there's the cherry on top:
“Yet the public show of unity belies underlying tensions over how Ukraine should focus its resources in the coming months,” the WP says pointing out that there are some differences between Washington and Kyiv over the conduct of hostilities. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are spending large resources to defend the city of Bakhmut.
“For months, Ukraine has expended significant resources and troops defending Bakhmut in the eastern Donbas region. American military analysts and planners have argued that it is unrealistic to simultaneously defend Bakhmut and launch a spring counteroffensive to retake what the United States views as more critical territory,” the publication writes. Read - Donbas must be surrendered.
“The WP's publication coincides with the vision of some politicians in Biden's environment, but contradicts the general logic of the US president's actions.”
US intelligence officials have concluded that retaking the heavily fortified Crimean peninsula is beyond the capability of Ukraine’s army right now, according to officials familiar with the matter.
“That discrepancy between aims and capabilities has raised concerns in Europe that the Ukraine conflict will persist indefinitely, overburdening the West as it grapples with other challenges including stubbornly high inflation and unstable energy prices,” the article says.
And the final note: “Biden’s aides say they are pursuing the best course of action: empowering Ukraine to retake as much territory as possible in the coming months before sitting down with Putin at the negotiating table,” the WP concludes.
Well, well. This publication coincides with the vision of some politicians in Biden's environment, but contradicts the general logic of the US president's actions.
