Number of ships passing through "grain corridor" daily decreased by half in January compared to September-October - Ministry of Agrarian Policy
In January, the number of ships passing through the Bosphorus through the "grain corridor" decreased to 2-3 per day, while in September-October 2022, there were an average of 6 ships per day.
This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky.
"While in September-October the average monthly passage through the Bosphorus was 6 vessels, in January these figures were halved to 2-3 vessels per day. Artificial, contrived "violations" are recorded for the ships. Under this hypocrisy, the aggressor country hides a single goal: to inflict not only a military defeat on Ukraine, but also an economic one. To weaken the financial position of our international partners, and to cause a migration crisis that will exacerbate existing problems," he said.
The Minister emphasized that Ukraine now needs the support of the international community and systemic solutions to the issue of sabotage of the grain corridor by the Russian side. He also named three global strategic things without which neither the Ukrainian nor the global agricultural market can develop:
-
ending the war by implementing the Ukrainian peace formula;
-
exchange of modern cultivation technologies;
-
removal of any barriers to the food market.
"There should be no trade restrictions for producers of food, including processed food. Everyone should have access to food," said the Minister of Agrarian Policy.
He added that barrier-free trade also applies to the work of the grain corridor, as the world's food security directly depends on its smooth operation.
Ukraine is seeking to expand the grain export agreement and resume steel exports through seaports.
