No country has committed to provide Ukraine with fighter jets - Ukraine's Foreign Minister
Not a single country has yet committed to providing Ukraine with fighter jets. However, there is a government that has undertaken to organize training for our pilots
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this in an interview with the German WAZ.
"So far, no country has committed to supplying fighter jets. But some governments, such as the British, have announced training for Ukrainian pilots on Western fighter jets, and others will do so soon," the minister said.
He also explained why Ukraine needs fighter jets.
"There are two points. Fighter jets support our own air defense, because aircraft can also be used to shoot down enemy missiles. Secondly, aviation is important for counter offensives. We would be particularly interested in fighters from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. These countries have the largest production facilities and the largest aircraft fleets," Kuleba said.
However, Ukraine also needs tanks, artillery systems and ammunition, the minister emphasized.
