New military units are being created for Western equipment in Ukraine
Commander of Ukraine's Joint Forces Serhiy Naiev said in an interview with CNN that Ukraine is creating new military units, waiting for equipment from Western partners.
This is stated in the CNN material.
"Of course, we need a large number of Western tanks. They are much better than the Soviet models and can help us advance. We are creating new military units. And our next actions will depend on their combat readiness. Therefore, Western assistance is extremely important," said Lieutenant General Serhiy Naiev.
The commander is convinced that the next stage of this war will be about tanks: not Soviet T-72s, but more modern vehicles such as German Leopard 2 and British Challengers. So Ukrainian defenders need to learn how to use this equipment:
"The whole unit should be equipped with the same vehicle, so a whole battalion is equipped with Bradley, if we get it, or with Leopards," added the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- During the eighth meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense in Ramstein on January 20, the provision of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine was not agreed upon.
- Ukraine has agreed to train its tank crews on German Leopard 2 and British Challenger 2 tanks, which will begin soon.
