My unit controls Soledar industrial zone - lawmaker Pohrebynskyi
Oleksandr Pohrebynskyi, Ukrainian lawmaker and chief sergeant with the 46th Detached Airborne Assault Brigade, says Soledar, Donetsk region, is under Ukrainian Armed Forces' control
He wrote this on Facebook on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
“Soledar is under our control, under the control of the 46th brigade! The industrial zone is controlled by my unit!” he wrote.
The military explained what is the key to the success of Soledar's defenders.
“If the command system is correctly built in the unit and proper control and observation are carried out, all attempts of the enemy, using separate groups of infantry, to storm our positions are completely destroyed. This also applies to offensive actions from our side. If the commanders are in their places, if they see the online picture (with the help of drones), and make the right decisions in time, then all the efforts of the enemy become useless,” Oleksandr Pohrebynskyi said.
According to him, “quadcopters play a very important role in both defense and offense.”
“Fighters will never leave their positions if they feel that the unit is managed, ammunition is delivered on time and there is cover. Yes, of course, it is not easy in Soledar, but we have the best guys and girls who decently repulse the enemy's attempts to change the situation,” Pohrebynskyi concluded.
For reference
Soledar is a town neighboring Bakhmut, located to the northeast of it and actually covers Bakhmut from the Lysychansk side.
In recent days, Russian propaganda has been spreading fakes about the allegedly successful offensive on Soledar.
