Over 300 chaplains from 13 religious organizations serve in Ukraine’s Armed Forces
Currently, over 300 priests and theologians from 13 different religious organizations are serving in the Ukrainian army
This was announced by the Centre for Strategic Communications of the General Staff of the Armed Forces on October 12, in a message honoring military chaplains.
The General Staff noted that the chaplaincy service in Ukraine’s Armed Forces was established in 2021, although it actually started during the Russian invasion of Crimea and Donbas in 2014.

“Right now, more than 300 priests and theologians are supporting soldiers at the front, in hospitals, or rear areas. They are always there to pray together, perform sacraments, or simply listen to those needing guidance,” the statement said.
Day of Military Chaplain in Ukraine
The Day of the Military Chaplain is marked on October 12 in honor of St. Martin the Merciful, Bishop of Tours, recognized as the founder of military chaplaincy and the patron saint of military chaplains.
