Legislation to permit citizens to create defense units
As for me, it is a sensation that the Ministry of Defense has actually approved a draft law on so-called international defense companies
This is groundbreaking, a sensation, a nuclear explosion! It's a revolution in thinking, and I can't even find the words to express it.
Previously, attempts by the deputy corps to allow citizens to create military units under state control did not seem promising. But this bill is truly well-written. While there are some minor frivolous moments, overall, you can sense a professional touch. Clearly, someone has directed the government and ministries to work on this document.
Why is this so important? Because the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been under the influence of enemy agents for a very long time, with hundreds and thousands of mechanisms built into their structure specifically designed to undermine their combat capability.
For example, the simple procedure of going to a shooting range is so complicated that commanders try to avoid live fire exercises to prevent drowning in bureaucracy. Another example: a routine procedure in wartime, such as using a soldier's combat first aid kit, results in a paperwork nightmare.
And this is the case with everything.
Initially, this issue wasn't noticed during the big war. But over time, these bureaucratic time bombs have started to come to the fore again. The most combat-ready units can still manage to cope, but everyone else is paralyzed by these processes. This trend threatens to grow, turning the army into something completely ineffective.
Especially in combination with the current legal situation in the army and various intergenerational conflicts such as Tavr vs. Sodol.
In general, we are following global trends. In the most advanced countries, such as Britain or the United States, old armies with developed bureaucracies are giving way to private initiatives. This is even more relevant for us.
Do not be misled by the name “international.” These companies will be quite capable of fighting directly on the Ukrainian front. And don't laugh at the limitation of “no more than a heavy machine gun” as their weaponry. Today, drones can achieve much more than traditional heavy-fire systems, and in the future, they will be even more capable. That's why what the bill proposes is enough to reach Moscow.
Of course, any good intentions can be drowned in inappropriate formalities, and military companies here can become easy victims of bureaucratic inefficiency. But the fact that such a progressive draft law is being worked on and that we have a chance for the best is encouraging.
Perhaps our victory will not be stolen from us after all. Maybe we will continue fighting.
