Military service time cap needed for Ukraine's Armed Forces: expert explains why
Military expert Yevhen Dykyi believes that term limits for service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces need to be regulated right away through legislation
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
“It is now critical to set a limit on the length of service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Our citizens should not buy a one-way ticket. On the contrary, they should understand that they will win back what is theirs and then they will be replaced. And no matter how long this war lasts, our citizens will know that after a certain time they will be able to return home and be replaced by those who were in the rear. However, there is a certain sequence here. First, we need to make sure that we have ensured a good level of mobilization, and only then can and should we provide demobilization for our defenders,” explained Dykyi.
The expert believes that the Ukrainian parliament should regulate the issue of service limits in the Armed Forces.
“Because we still have not corrected the blatant injustice of this war. It seems that the people who went to defend us in 2022 will do so until the end of the war. At the same time, there is no guarantee that we will be able to recruit enough people to replace them. The Ukrainian parliament has taken a step towards strengthening mobilization, and this step has yielded serious results. The next few steps should be taken. In particular, a service limit and criminalization of registration evasion,” he added.
