Lukashenko wants China to pull him out of Putin's pocket – Belarusian journalist Lukashuk
Zmitser Lukashuk, Belarusian journalist, editor of European Radio, believes that Lukashenko is very afraid that Russia may deepen integration with Belarus to the point where an independent sovereign Belarus will cease to exist
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"I would advise you to pay attention to the fact that Lukashenko and Tokayev supported China's 'peace plan'. It's worth noting that Belarus and Kazakhstan are members of the CSTO, and the Kremlin could rely on these countries. But by supporting China's "peace plan," whatever it may be, Lukashenko and Tokayev have supported not what Putin is seeking today, but what Comrade Xi is saying. In other words, Lukashenko and Tokayev sided with China and showed that China is a more important country for them today, and they want to hide behind it," the Belarusian journalist commented.
Zmitser Lukashuk noted that Lukashenko is very afraid that Russia, having received a good kick in Ukraine, may incorporate (join - ed.) and deepen integration with Belarus to the point where an independent sovereign Belarus will cease to exist. It is clear that Lukashenko does not want this, he does not want to be the governor of the northwestern region.
"That's why Lukashenko is looking for opportunities to hide behind someone's back. He wants China to pull him out of Putin's pocket. In addition, wherever Lukashenko goes, he goes with his hand out and asks for money. And so it is here, there is allegedly information that Lukashenko has agreed on trade deals with China worth several billion dollars. Obviously, Lukashenko traveled to China to ask for money and try to escape from the Kremlin's influence," Lukashuk concluded.
