Lithuanian Defense Minister announces transfer of "hundreds" of Leopard tanks from several countries to Ukraine
Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas says several countries will announce the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine on January 20, and their number will reach hundreds
The head of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry told the Guardian about this.
According to him, the decision will be announced at the January 20 meeting of defense ministers at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
“Some of the countries will definitely send Leopard tanks to Ukraine, that is for sure,” the minister said.
According to Anušauskas, the total number of tanks Ukraine will receive will reach hundreds.
For reference: Ukraine Defense Contact Group, or the Ramstein platform (named after the air base where the meeting takes place), is a meeting of international allies who support Ukraine's defense in the war against Russia. It currently brings together defense ministers from more than 50 countries.

Former commander of the Polish Ground Forces and deputy minister of defense, General Waldemar Skrzypczak, believes that the most Leopard tanks should be given to Ukraine by countries located far from the frontline. He emphasized that Germany and Spain can provide up to 150 tanks.

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said that his country has no intention of transferring tanks to Ukraine.

Finland has declared its readiness to join a coalition of countries that will provide Ukraine with Leopard tanks.

Poland is ready to provide Ukraine with 14 Leopard tanks and hopes that other NATO countries will follow suit and manage to assemble at least an armored brigade.
