Kyiv defense commander explains purpose of Russia preparing new divisions in Belarus
Allegedly, the Russian Federation is preparing new divisions on the territory of Belarus, in order to then redeploy them to the east of Ukraine. There are no signs that the occupiers are preparing for an invasion from Belarus.
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine,the commander of the Kyiv defense forces, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, has told about this.
"In the direction of Kyiv, at the moment, we do not see a grouping that could threaten an offensive. We are constantly monitoring, following up the situation. One of the Russian units that was formed there has been relocated back to the territory of the Russian Federation, next to the Luhansk Oblast. "It is likely that it will be applied there," he said.
"In Belarus, new Russian units are also being created. However, for now, all Russian combat units are going East," the general added.
According to him, Russia is most likely using Belarus only for training its military, and not as a springboard for an offensive.
