ISW reviews possible causes of explosions in Russian occupied Crimea on August 18
Experts of the Institute for the Study of War have named five possible reasons for the explosions in the occupied Crimea that happened in the evening of August 18
This is stated in the ISW report.
"Russian sources have reported explosions throughout Crimea - probably caused by Russian air defense, Ukrainian intelligence or a Ukrainian attack - on the night of August 18," the message reads.
Analysts emphasize that they cannot independently verify whether Russian air defenses shot down a Ukrainian drone, and whether there was any drone in Kerch or Belbek at all.
However, the Institute mentions the possible causes of the explosions in Sevastopol and Kerch
-
targeting of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
-
actions of Ukrainian intelligence
-
Bad maintenance of the Russians with their equipment
-
successful actions of Russian air defense
-
the nerves of the Russian occupiers, who are probably preparing for attacks in areas previously considered inaccessible to the Ukrainian army
Analysts believe that Ukrainian forces are likely to continue their campaign of targeting Russian military facilities in occupied Crimea in order to weaken the occupiers' logistics capabilities and their ability to support operations on the west bank of the Dnieper.
