If Ukraine opposed disarmament of Israel, Russia would shout that we want to be nuclear state again - Ohryzko
Ukraine, which voted for the nuclear disarmament of Israel, showed its consistent and principled position on the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
Volodymyr Ohryzko, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, told this live on air on Espreso TV channel.
"I think the situation here is completely clear - from the moment when it gave up its nuclear weapons, Ukraine clearly and clearly stated we are against the spread of nuclear weapons around the world - regardless of who it affects", he said.
Ohryzko called Ukraine's position consistent and principled.
If this position changes, then the voting format will also be changed. For now, we stand on these positions. It seems to me that if we had voted differently, then in a few seconds in Moscow they would shout that Ukraine confirmed it wants to become a nuclear state. Would we like such a development? Obviously not. Those who shout about treason and that we voted together with Russia and Belarus are actually what Moscow's propaganda is driving us to. There is no need to look for betrayal there - it is not there. There is the principled position we adhere to", the ex-minister concluded.
