If Pentagon leak did not exist, it was worth inventing
The array of published information provides the necessary arguments that the world will be safer and more predictable if Ukraine wins
We don't know who is behind the leak of the Pentagon documents and who will benefit from it. And it is not obvious whether we will ever know. The story itself is certainly unfortunate, but not catastrophic; we have not yet received anything critically new, and some of the documents are manipulated. However, if this leak did not exist, then in a sense it would have to be invented.
For example, one of the leaked documents refers to China's alleged promise to secretly supply Russia with lethal weapons. The Chinese are forced to respond that they will not supply it to us or to Russia. They never do anything for no reason, and this statement by the Chinese foreign minister is no accident. The Chinese will play for a draw and for their participation in defining a new European security system. They will find many supporters in the non-Western world, but also many in the Western world. You can have any opinion about Marine Le Pen, but her words that Russia's victory means a catastrophe and ours means World War III are unfortunately shared by more people than are willing to say publicly.
“One of the leaked documents refers to China's alleged promise to secretly supply Russia with lethal weapons. The Chinese are forced to respond that they will not supply it to us or to Russia. They never do anything for no reason”
As well as her words that we need to provide defensive, not offensive weapons. These words also coincide with one of the leaked documents, that for China, the red line will be systematic attacks on Russian territory. The draw game between parts of the Western and non-Western worlds is a very serious challenge. It cannot be fought off with emotions, but requires arguments that the world will be safer and more predictable if Ukraine wins. And not those that are clear to us, but those that will be clear to others - those who put their interests first. And this will be one of the main tasks this year and in the future. This year will be the year of geopolitics.
