I don’t have any announcements on aircraft – Austin on Ukraine aid
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said at a press conference that the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Brussels was focused on Ukraine’s most pressing military needs
At a news conference broadcast by Espreso TV on Tuesday, Austin said he had no news regarding the supply of fighter jets to Ukraine.
"As for the issue of combat aircraft, I don’t have any announcements to make on aircraft today. We are going to continue to work with Ukraine to address Ukraine’s most pressing needs. We are contemplating on the offensive in the spring, and this is weeks away. So we have a lot to get done. We are thinking about the numbers of systems we are bringing together: Bradleys, Strykers, mortars, CV-90s, M113s (armored personnel carriers -ed.) artillery systems, and so on. We have a monumental task to bring all these systems together, get the troops trained on those platforms. We need to understand that Ukraine has everything it needs to launch a counteroffensive in the spring. So, this was the focus of our meeting today," said Lloyd Austin.
