Hungary reaps 'rewards' of populism
Pro-Russian Prime Minister Orbán is pushing the country into an economic abyss with his anti-European rhetoric
While prices rose by 20% in the EU as a whole, they rose by 45% in Hungary.
Eggs, milk, butter, and bread prices have doubled in a year.
The forint fell by 40% against the dollar and by 20% against the euro.
Again.
In Ukraine, where the biggest war since 1945 is taking place, the hryvnia exchange rate has fallen by 30%, and in peaceful Hungary by 40%.
In Ukraine, inflation for the war year was 26%, and in Hungary 45%.

Yes, I understand: our allies pump USD 5 billion into us every month.
But, to put it crudely, they only compensate for what we take out of the treasury for the war, because they cannot finance it directly.
And I also understand that Hungary also receives EU money, and Orbán screams like a stabbed boar when they cut it for pro-Moscow attacks.
Well, good luck, Magyars.
I hope this is just the beginning. I believe that, like your blood brothers, you can do it again.
“Hungary is again on the side of the barbarian. In general, China, Iran, North Korea, and the Russian Federation need to toughen up. Hungary has fought twice in world wars, and twice the coalitions it joined lost.”
After World War II, inflation in Hungary was the highest in the world.
It was higher than the famous German one in the twenties described by Remarque.
5 quintillion per penge, or five to the thirtieth power.
When the penge was replaced by the forint in 1946, the dollar weight of all Magyar banknotes in circulation was one thousandth of a cent.
This is all a consequence of Hungary joining the war on the side of the aggressor.
Now Hungary is again on the side of the barbarian.
In general, China, Iran, North Korea, and the Russian Federation need to toughen up.
Hungary fought twice in the world wars, and twice the coalitions it joined lost.
One hundred percent juice.
But God loves the trinity.
