How long does it take for Ukraine to demine one settlement
Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs said that complete demining of Ukraine will take years. Currently, it takes about a month to dispose of explosives in one settlement.
Ukrinform reports with reference to Denys Monastyrskyi, Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs.
"We understand that we will need years for complete demining. But we spend up to a month to demine one medium-sized settlement, in order to demine residential buildings, paths, roads to electricity and heat facilities. And during this month of demining, restoration of electricity, heat, law and order, all the things that people need first of all, begins", Monastyrskyi said.
Currently, more than 60% of pyrotechnicians of State Emergency Service and National Police are concentrated in Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions for humanitarian demining.
"In fact, Ukrainian pyrotechnicians demined more than 64,000 hectares in de-occupied territories during this time. This is a large area, and (demining - ed.) is being carried out at an extremely fast pace. Compared to the pace of our colleagues who come to help us from international organizations, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service work 100 times faster. These are not some beautiful words, but real measurements. Because in order to restore light, every hour counts. Very large teams are working, we are constantly increasing the number of pyrotechnicians working for us", Monastyrskyi added.
