Germany has evidence of Russian war crimes in Ukraine "in three-digit range"
Germany has declared need for a trial against Russian Federation at the international level after collecting evidence of war crimes in Ukraine
Reuters reports with reference to the statement of German Prosecutor General, Peter Frank.
"Now, for example, we are focused on mass murders in Bucha or attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure," he said.
According to the Prosecutor General, Germany currently has evidence in the "three-digit range", while he did not specify the details.
Frank revealed that Germany began gathering evidence as early as March 2022, interviewing Ukrainian refugees and evaluating publicly available information. He added that German prosecutors are not yet investigating specific individuals.
"We are preparing ourselves for a possible later court case - be it with us in Germany, be it with our foreign partners, be it before an international court," he added.
When asked who should be tried, Frank said that Russian state leaders and those who implement decisions at the highest military level should be held accountable.
