G7 and EU countries to discuss ban on transit of goods through Russia - Bloomberg
Ukraine's allies are preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia, the key goal of which is to eliminate the shortcomings in the already approved sanctions and prevent the possibility of circumventing restrictions
Bloomberg reports.
Among the proposals voiced to the EU representatives is a ban on the transit of goods through the territory of the Russian Federation. It was also proposed to introduce restrictive measures against ships that disable their navigation systems. In addition, the new package of sanctions may include about 30 individuals connected with Russia.
According to the agency's source, the United States, Japan, and Canada are preparing their own sanctions packages. Canada, in particular, may announce restrictions on the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, as well as sanctions against the Russian defense industry.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the U.S. government intends to submit a proposal to the G7 summit to impose an embargo on the export of almost any goods to Russia. It was assumed that only medicines and food would be included in the list of exceptions. But, according to Financial Times sources, at a preparatory meeting for the G7 summit, representatives of the EU and Japan called such a measure impossible.
