Fresh US arms support package to Ukraine includes HIMARS, Phoenix Ghost drones
The US Department of Defense has announced a new weapons package to Ukraine including four HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems and 580 Phoenix Ghost tactical drones.
The Pentagon shared the news on its official website.
This package includes approximately USD 175 million worth of weapons removed from existing US military stockpiles through a presidential executive order and USD 95 million worth of equipment from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
According to a senior official of the US Ministry of Defense, the presidential package includes four additional HIMARS systems, after which Ukraine will have 16 of them, four command and staff vehicles, additional anti-tank weapons, spare parts and other equipment, and 36,000 105 mm shells.
The USAI package included 580 Phoenix Ghost tactical unmanned aerial vehicles. They will be purchased from manufacturers and then supplied to the Ukrainian military.
