Five "DPR" militants will be tried for torturing captured Ukrainians
Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office send an indictment against five “DPR” militants who tortured captured Ukrainians.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Telegram.
"Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office sent to court an indictment against 5 people who abused captured Ukrainians," the statement said.
Since 2014, 2 terrorist organizations have been operating in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region: "Ministry of State Security of the DPR" and "Kalininska Penal Colony №27". They consisted of 17 militants, including representatives of local criminals and former law enforcement officers.
These people abducted and tortured Ukrainians who did not recognize the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic".
"To force them to confess to alleged espionage and other far-fetched crimes, they threatened to torture and kill their children and wives. If the threats did not help, they imitated execution and even burial alive," the press service informed.
All participants were notified of suspicion. They are charged with high treason, creation of a terrorist organization and violation of the laws and customs of war (Article 111, Article 258-3 and Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
