First two NASAMS air defense batteries can protect Kyiv from Russian missiles - Zgurets
Defense Express analyst Serhiy Zgurets has said that the first NASAMS air defense systems will be able to protect Ukraine's capital effectively from Russian missile strikes.
He told Espreso about this.
"The first NASAMS air defense systems should cover the sky above the capital. Since Kyiv is an important center in many aspects, from the number of people in the city to the coverage of important bridges. So far we are talking about two NASAMS batteries. Each of them can destroy targets at a distance of up to 40 km. Therefore, we will be able to protect the most important territories of Kyiv," Zgurets explained.
The analyst noted that Ukraine has quite large territories and it will not be possible to protect all settlements at once.
"We are currently engaging in a strategy using existing air defense assets and those provided to us by our allies. In the short term, we will not be able to cover the skies over the entire territory of Ukraine. However, the fact that we are working on creating a multi-layered anti-missile and anti-air defense remains a fact," he added.
