First Spartans are in Ukraine, soon they will be near Bakhmut and Avdiivka - Poroshenko
The first Spartan armored vehicles, bought by the Poroshenko Foundation and volunteers of the Sprava Gromad NGO, are undergoing technical maintenance for going to the front
In October, Petro Poroshenko announced an agreement to purchase a batch of British armored vehicles of the Spartan family for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the press service of the European Solidarity party writes.
“This is our second batch of Spartan armored vehicles, known all over Ukraine. They are now in Ukraine. According to our mechanics and drivers, they are in a very decent technical condition. We are now carrying out maintenance. The first preparation by our specialists took place in Great Britain. And very soon they will be near Bakhmut and Avdiivka. They will beat the enemy,” Poroshenko said.
He said that specialists are working on increasing the capacity of armored vehicles, which will also be armed with additional military equipment and weapons.
“We are trying to have six, or maybe even seven places for paratroopers there. We will also bring Sultan armored carriers, where there will be more space - we think, for 8 paratroopers. And we will bring Samaritans. It will be an armored vehicle for evacuating the wounded,” Poroshenko explained.
He also informed that the equipment will go to the Airborne Assault Forces, where a battalion with the same type of armored vehicles will be formed. A repair base, a stock of spare parts and fuel and lubricants are also being prepared for them.
The fifth president of Ukraine thanked everyone who contributed to Ukraine's Armed Forces, and emphasized: this is the best anti-stress after the Russian shelling.
“I'm proud that we did it. And we can do even more! Therefore, if you want to donate for Spartans after the morning attacks, go to the website of the Sprava Gromad NGO. And I will double your donation,” Petro Poroshenko reminded.
Spartan belongs to the CVR (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance) family of armored combat vehicles. In the British army, this vehicle was intended for the transportation of small specialized groups of scouts, anti-aircraft gunners, mortarmen, sappers, etc. The Spartan has high mobility and compact dimensions. It can overcome water obstacles.
The Poroshenko Foundation and the Sprava Gromad NGO purchased and handed over 11 Italian MLS Shield armored vehicles to the Airborne Assault Forces. Three armored vehicles were damaged during Russian shelling, but reliable armor saved the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
The Poroshenko Foundation traditionally doubles the amount of funds collected by volunteers for Ukraine's Armed Forces.
In general, since February 24, after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the Poroshenko Foundation, the Roshen company, and the volunteers of the Sprava Gromad NGO directed more than UAH 1 billion 650 million to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. With these funds, the following were purchased: body armor, Kevlar helmets, weapons (including machine guns, sniper equipment, etc.), pickup trucks, trucks, tractors and armored vehicles, thermal imagers, drones, night vision devices, power generators, digital radio stations, starlinks, military clothing, turnstiles, NATO first-aid kits, water purification systems, means for the construction of fortifications, fuel, food products (including a large amount of grain and food kits for both the military and residents of liberated settlements).
