He reported this on Espreso TV.

"There are heavy battles, I would even say, hellish battles. The enemy is behaving like a wounded beast, which rushes into the last attack, realizing that it does not have much time left. In the last two weeks, there is a kind of reflection with World War I and World War II, the battles are large-scale and very hot. Today, Bakhmut is a Ukrainian fortress that takes the blow and gives our brothers the opportunity to advance in other directions. We are holding on, although the situation is difficult, but the Russians will not succeed," said the Svoboda battalion officer.

Andrii Illenko emphasized that Ukrainian units continue to keep the defined boundaries.

"The Russians are using tactics that were in place 80 years ago; they are retreat blocking groups, who shoot those who refuse to attack. The enemy is using his mobilized troops, and also a lot of former inmates, who are sent to attack to find our firing points. In addition to the infantry, the enemy uses artillery, aviation, tanks, and prohibited phosphorus ammunition. The whole battlefield is on fire near Bakhmut, that is, every square meter is shelled - such is the intensity of artillery fire. I want the whole country to know that those Ukrainian infantrymen who are now here in the trenches, are heroes. And they receive, perhaps, the heaviest blow at the moment. Near Bakhmut, we restrain a huge Russian grouping and give Ukrainian forces the opportunity to succeed in other directions," Illenko emphasized.
