"It will not be easier for Ukraine, but not catastrophic either": MP Kniazhytskyi on results of European Parliament elections
Ukrainian MP Kniazhytskyi believes that due to the growing presence of right-wing parties in the European Parliament, the situation with the aid to Ukraine will not be catastrophic
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel
"Everything is expected. Right-wing parties have strengthened their presence in the European Parliament. However, these are different right-wing parties. There is the right-wing party of Italy, headed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. She is a supporter of Ukraine. There is a German right-wing party, Alternative for Germany, which is a sympathizer with Russia, and some right-wing parties have expelled them from joint European organizations. That is why the right-wing parties in the EU are not homogeneous," explained Kniazhytskyi.
According to the MP, the results of the European Parliament elections will not be catastrophic for Ukraine
"Indeed, right-wing parties have increased their presence in the European Parliament, but not enough to change the overall picture. It is very important for us that Ursula von der Leyen is re-elected. It will be more difficult for her to do so, but it is possible. The Greens have reduced their presence in the European Parliament. These are alarming signals for us. Especially what happened in France, where Macron called early elections after Marine Le Pen's party received a very large support. The same thing happened in Belgium. Now we do not know how they will treat the support for Ukraine. However, one way or another, the situation will not be easier for us, but it is not catastrophic for Ukraine either," he added.
