Decisive battle to control highways is underway in Bakhmut, the coming days will be decisive - military expert
A fierce, decisive battle for control of both highways around Bakhmut is raging: the logistics are very complicated and this is critical
Yevhen Dykyi, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war and military expert, said this on Espreso TV.
“I have direct information from Bakhmut. The situation is extremely difficult, especially after the enemy managed to destroy the bridges. There is a decisive fierce battle for the final control of both roads and the enemy has not only approached them. From the north, the Russians are already in control, including the route through Khromove, which remained a reserve. The situation with the road in the south is also extremely difficult. It is not under the physical control of the Russians, but it is being shelled, and people are slipping between shells,” he noted.
According to Dykyi, this has a big impact on logistics.
“Ammunition, food, and drinking water have to be brought into the city, and there is a constant need to evacuate the wounded. All these things are done in an extreme way. Backup routes - dirt roads are currently not passable for heavy equipment. The city is not completely surrounded, but the logistics are extremely complicated, and this is critical,” the expert emphasized.
He added that the military are holding on, their mood is right, but the logistics of the delivery is at a critical point.
“My guess is that everything will be resolved in a few days. The situation cannot be maintained in its current state for long. There are two options: either to withdraw or to push the enemy back at least one road. The next 3-5 days will show it,” summarized Dykyi.
