Czech Republic wants Ukraine to select new ambassador to go to Prague
It has been a year since there has not been a proper ambassador from Ukraine in Prague, and the Czech Republic is asking for one
A government official from the Czech Republic, Vít Rakušan, talked about this on CNN Prima News.
He hopes that Kyiv will choose a new ambassador in the next few weeks or months.
The reason there has not been an ambassador from Ukraine in Prague for so long is because many diplomats are staying in Ukraine due to the ongoing Russian invasion. They are mainly dealing with matters inside Ukraine.
On July 9, 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy removed Yevhen Perebyinis from his job as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Czech Republic. Perebyinis was then appointed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Perebyinis had been in charge of Ukraine's representation in the Czech Republic for five years, since 2017. Normally, ambassadors stay in a country for about four years before leaving.
