Kyiv ranked most polluted large city in the world
On the morning of Friday, September 20, a temporary deterioration in air quality was reported in the capital of Ukraine. Local authorities recommend limiting prolonged outdoor activities

As of 9:45 a.m., Kyiv ranks first in the global anti-rating for air pollution.
The Kyiv City State Administration reports the deterioration in air quality.
According to the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation, as of 7:00 a.m., an increase in the concentration of suspended particles (dust) is recorded.
The probable cause of the temporary deterioration in air quality is fires in the ecosystem of Kyiv region, in particular in Vyshhorod district.
The administration recommends some restrictions until the air situation improves:
- close windows
- limit your stay on the street;
- drink plenty of water;
- if you have an air purifier, turn it on to the maximum.
Government Online has clarified that efforts to localize and extinguish fires in three forestries in the region are ongoing.
“In addition, every year in the fall we see an increase in air pollution due to temperature changes. Warm air and humidity lead to fog, and harmful substances from various emission sources hardly dissipate,” the statement said.
