British and German fighter jets intercept Russian plane near Estonia
Fighter jets from the UK and Germany jointly intercepted a Russian plane near Estonian airspace
BBC reports.
On March 14, two Typhoon fighter jets and the British RAF intercepted a Russian Il-78 refueling plane. It was flying between St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad without contacting Estonian air traffic controllers.
It is noted that the air forces of the United Kingdom and Germany are currently conducting a planned joint NATO air patrol in the region. The interception itself was routine, but this is the first time the two countries have conducted a joint operation.
"The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Nato and Russia over the Russian invasion of Ukraine, although there is no evidence of any link with Tuesday's reported collision between a Russian fighter jet and a US drone over the Black Sea," the journalists stated.

Earlier, two Dutch F-35 fighter jets intercepted three Russian military aircraft near Poland from the direction of Kaliningrad.
