The visit to the capital of Ukraine was held in secret for security reasons. Biden left Washington without warning after he and his wife had dinner at a restaurant on February 18.
According to CNN, Biden arrived in Kyiv at 8:00 a.m. local time. The US president's motorcade arrived at the Mariinskyi Palace past 8:30 a.m., where Joe Biden was met by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife.
Earlier it was announced that the US president would visit Poland on February 20 to 22. The White House assured that a visit to Ukraine was not planned.
