Biden discusses support for Ukraine with von der Leyen
On Thursday, April 20, US President Joe Biden discussed further support for Ukraine with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
The White House website reports.
"President Biden and President von der Leyen reaffirmed the commitment of the United States and the European Union to ensure that Ukraine has the economic and security assistance it needs and to continuing to work closely together to impose costs on the Kremlin for Russia’s aggression," the statement reads.
Biden and von der Leyen also discussed the European Commission President's trip to China and the issue of Taiwan.
"The two leaders discussed President von der Leyen’s recent trip to Beijing and their shared commitment to upholding the rules-based international order, human rights, and fair trade practices. They reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. ," the White House reports.
In addition, Biden and von der Leyen discussed ongoing joint efforts to accelerate the transition to clean energy.
